‘Black Panther’ Star Danai Gurira In Talks To Join ‘Godzilla Vs. Kong’

Avengers Danai Gurira OkoyeDeadline reports Black Panther and The Walking Dead star Danai Gurira is currently in talks to join the cast of Godzilla vs Kong.

The film directed by Adam Wingard (Death Note) will be Legendary’s fourth installment of its cinematic MonsterVerse and will follow Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Plot details currently remain under wraps but should Gurira close a deal, she’ll join the cast which includes stars of the Godzilla sequel Millie Bobby Brown and Kyle Chandler, as well as Deadpool 2 star Julian Dennison.

Production on the project is expected to take place in Atlanta, Georgia.

Here is the synopsis for Godzilla: King of the Monsters:

The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be directed by Michael Dougherty and stars Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, Zhang Ziyi, Anthony Ramos, Ken Watanabe, Randy Havens, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Aisha Hinds, Thomas Middleditch, Bradley Whitford, Sally Hawkins, Elizabeth Ludlow, and Charles Dance.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be released in theaters on March 22, 2019, with Godzilla vs. Kong scheduled for May 22, 2020.
